It’s been six months since Exclusive Collection became a B Corp and if you follow them on social media, you may have already seen that they have been sharing what’s going on #BehindtheB at Exclusive all throughout March, as it’s the official B Corp month.
Becoming a B Corp to give people and the planet equal importance to profit has meant they have shifted in how Exclusive Collection approaches everyday questions, challenges, and practices. They are now finding new ways to do business better to help the environment and enhance the experience for all people, from their employees, clients, local communities, and lovely guests like you!
Take a look below at just some of the things they have been up to over the past six months and follow them on Instagram to keep up to date with their journey.
On the Exclusive Collection estates
Exclusive Collection really cares about their 600+ acres and the wider environmental impact they have, so they are taking action and planning future land and energy use carefully. Exclusive Collection is already using 100% renewable electricity and is now investing in newer, greener boilers and energy systems. Working with The Land App, they are calculating how much carbon they currently capture and how they can capture more whilst enriching regional biodiversity. The Company is also coppicing some of their trees for a sustainable timber source whilst creating new habitats with the deadwood and they’re also mulching their cut grass and fallen leaves to create their very own compost.
In the Exclusive Collection kitchens
Exclusive Collection is now working with OLIO to help eliminate food waste by collecting meals they make from leftover food and distributing them to local families in need. So far Exclusive Collection has saved 662kg of food, which is over 1,500 meals for more than 170 families and the team looks forward to supporting more as they roll out across the collection. The graduate teams are working on reducing single use plastics and food waste across the wider business, with many switches like silicone toppers and wooden golf tees, discussions with suppliers on removing plastic packaging, and how they can cut down on food overproduction.
Exclusive Collection Impact Statement
Throughout our hotels
As a B Corp, Exclusive Collection knows business can be a force for good, which is why all their corporate events from April can have their carbon footprint calculated, providing carbon measured menus so businesses can reduce their footprint through their menu choices. The team at Exclusive Collection is working on improving their supply chain, supporting current suppliers in becoming more sustainable, whilst ensuring new suppliers have strong people and planet practices in place. They’ve also seen some ingenious repurposing come to life, from a tired base drawer unit being upcycled into a seat for trying shoes in the golf shop, an old bathtub becoming a worm farm for soil dressing and fertiliser, and even toilet rolls being used as seed trainers in the kitchen gardens!
